Hockey Think Tank Youth Hockey Organization

By: Topher Scott

2020 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the Hockey Think Tank.  And quite honestly, I have never been more excited about where this train is headed.

I’ve hired my first full time employee.  Our social media presence is booming.  The podcast is one of the fastest growing hockey podcasts in the world.  And the feedback from all of you about the kind of effect we’re having gives me chills.

It’s been awesome connecting with so many people from so many different places and levels of hockey.  From passionate mite parents and coaches all the way to people working in the top offices of the NHL, I’ve learned so much and have been inspired from my conversations with all of you.

And I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to hear that what we stand for and what we talk about is making positive change across the hockey world.

But now…

We get to affect that kind of change at a much more grassroots level as well.

Because next year I will be partnering with and taking over as the Hockey Director of the Syracuse Nationals AAA organization here in NY.  And not only that, but we are rebranding the entire organization as The Hockey Think Tank.  It’s a chance to make a real difference with the kids in this area through executing on the ideas and values that we believe in and have spoken passionately about.

It is going to be an UNBELIEVABLY FUN process.

I can’t wait to collaborate with the coaches and families.  I can’t wait to see The Hockey Think Tank name being represented on the kids’ jerseys and being worn with pride.  I can’t wait to develop a culture where the kids are excited to come to the rink to have fun, be challenged, and get better.  And I can’t wait to see The Hockey Think Tank name in the Top 10 of My Hockey Rankings too!

Just kidding, I just threw up in my mouth even making that joke.

Even more exciting, I’m also putting my coaching hat back on and will be coaching the 18u team.  I am stoked to be going back behind the bench.  Coming from coaching in college I know how important that year is for kids aspiring to play at a higher level, and I am PUMPED to help guide the kids and their families into that next phase of their journey.

Through it all, I can’t wait to share the experience with all of you.  All of it.  My goal is to really do this thing right and share the process with those that are looking to make a positive influence within your organizations as well.  With a focus on building bridges (not barriers) and putting the interest of the kids first, we’re going to develop an organizational culture and hockey development framework that will provide an unreal experience for all of our players, parents, and coaches.

So here’s to 2020 and beyond! What an exciting time adding this next phase to the Hockey Think Tank.  We look forward to continuing to push the envelope in the area of hockey development.  And we’re excited to share it with all of you near and far!
