Everybody wants to score goals. It’s what wins games, and gets the fans out of their seats. But why is it so hard…and what can you do to put yourself in a position to score??
Looking at these two video clips, it tells an amazing story.
- You need to be READY to score. If you watch Kadri and Garland on these shifts, they have unreal body language and they let their teammate know that they want the puck and are READY to score. Knees bent, stick in a prime position, READY for that pass to fire it on net.
- They find a spot in an area to receive the pass as well. Both players survey the ice and find a soft spot in the defensive coverage. They open up, head up, in these quiet areas and are able to put themselves in a position to score. Both in different spots, but quiet areas away from the defenders nonetheless.
I think these are two very basic concepts for goal scoring. Find the soft areas between the Dzone coverage, and then be READY with a scoring mindset to get the job done. Great clips from really talented scorers that anybody who wants to score goals can learn from!!
