KIDS: If you are a defenseman, next time CBJ is on take a close look at Zach Werenski. Not only is he fun to watch (he plays like a 4th forward) but he ALWAYS HAS HIS HEAD UP. Such a great habit & should always be worked on in drills. Check it out here!

COACHES: How much do you work on RETRIEVALS & RELEASES w/ your PP? If you want to be a shooting PP, you have to win battles to retrieve the puck after shots. VGK does a great job pursuing pucks in this clip & then using their middle player as a release from pressure. Great work!

KIDS: Watch Paul Stastny battle for body positioning in front of the net. He backs up into the defender and uses his strength to own his space. Great job by Stastny, but Wild player needs to be tougher to play against in front.

COACHES: Here are 2 GREAT clips to teach cycle & soft area. Clip 1 shows Marchand using edges & body movement for deception in corner. Clip 2 shows Palat/Johnson give & go. Both show players moving feet out of corner and ability to find quiet, open ice in slot! Great job!

KIDS: Watch Mikko Koivu in this clip. Blocks a one-timer from DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN. Then he wins a hard stick battle and takes a monster hit to get the puck out of the zone. He gets rewarded with an assist. Playoff hockey at its best!

GOALIES: One of the most important skills for any goalie to learn is depth. Watch Jimmy Howard, and how far out of his net he gets in this clip. With Atkinson stopping, Howard stops, keeps his depth, and doesn’t give him any room to shoot. Great job!

COACHES: With many teams trying to swarm/outnumber fast in the corners defensively, offensive teams are using the back of the net to change sides of attack. This spreads opposing Dzone out, causes confusion, and allows more time/space to make plays. Great example from COL here!
